Kaitlyn + Gus | Wingate Plantation

Updated: Oct 29, 2019

Wow! Where do I begin? Katlyn had contacted me back in December of 2018 on Instagram wanting to get some information on my services! I was so excited, as Nicki Paige Collection was still evolving into my new wedding planning company, I was excited to have someone interested in me!

She was so eager to meet. I met with her mother, her fiancé, and Katlyn at The Harbinger Cafe off of King St and we chatted for over an hour all about the details of their wedding day. I remember leaving in such a great mood, because Katlyn was this sweet & bubbly character, and it truly can rub off on anyone. What a true ray of sunshine!

Katlyn and Gus met when they were 17 and 18 year olds working their first jobs, at a McDonalds in their hometown. They have been together ever since! You can tell these high school sweethearts love never died after all these years, because on the day of their wedding, they were as giddy as a high school couple holding hands down the hallway for the first time. It was infectious to say the least.

The week leading up to the wedding, we had a couple of hiccups. One, the weather, are any of us surprised? The weather didn't look good. Katlyn and her mom were worried, but Sarah, owner of Wingate Plantation and I assured her that everything would be okay and that we had a back up plan in place regardless. Two, was that her father was unexpectedly going to have to have knee surgery, and we weren't entirely sure on his status of recovery and if he was going to be able to walk Katlyn down the aisle. We game planned a couple of options and even played with the line up during the day of the rehearsal. I'm so happy to announce that Katlyn's father was able to walk her down the aisle, with a huge smile on his face! What an amazing part in her day!

The day is finally here and we are more than ready to conquer whatever comes our way! Paper Dolls arrived bright and early to get Katlyn photo ready for all the festivites we had planned today!

Wisteria Designs did such an amazing job with the floral installs; from the greenery and fresh blooms draped on the rope swing in front of the home, to the touch of greenery and blooms hanging from the existing chandeliers under the tent, to the gorgeous cross at the ceremony, everything looked wonderful and colorful!

Not. A. Drop. hit the ground and Katlyn could not have asked for better weather that day! Everything was truly stunning and the timeline went off without a hitch!

Katlyn and Gus started off their days by reading letters one another wrote, which was truly something memorable and special that will be held dearly to them forever. So many intricate details were well thought out throughout the day, even down to the fluffy blooms cascading around her invitation suite, designed by Rose & Cotton Lettering!

Some of the most special moments were captured today, with the help of Mikaela Marie Photography and Little Eye Film Co, such as a beautiful bridesmaids first look, father daughter first look, and even a bride & groom first look! Katlyn even had a chance to have her beloved chihuahua, Dora in the wedding!

They exchanged their vows in front of their family & friends and during the ceremony they added a feet washing tradition that turned into a sweet little addition to their ceremony program.

Once the ceremony was complete, the party began! Cocktail hour was on the lawn, while Crazy Dutchmen Catering opened the bar and appetizers were passed.

Once guests were done mingling and pictures were taken, we kick started the night with Mike Marsico from Bunn DJ Company introducing the wedding party & starting off the night with Katlyn & Gus's first dance song, From The Ground Up, by Dan & Shay. Shortly after, Katlyn and Gus shared a special dance with their father & mother and then dinner was served.

Sunsets are always my favorite time of the day, and we could not have asked for better light, or for a better addition to our sunset pictures -- you guessed it! Sea Island Event Co came with their 1951 Plymouth Cranbrook vehicle named, Polly, to get some of the most amazing sunset pictures of Katlyn & Gus. Not only did they come for the sunset, but they even came back at the end of the night for a grand sparkler send off!

The night capped off with cake cutting, bouquet & garter toss, lots of dancing on the black & white checkered dance floor provided by Event Haus, and to conclude, a sparkler send off. What a truly remarkable night that I think nobody will ever forget!
