Laura + Cam | The Gadsden House

Laura and Cameron shared their I do’s at the ever-gorgeous and beautiful Charleston staple, The Gadsden House. Natasha Coyle, a born and raised Charlestonian was able to capture their most important day, and we can’t believe how amazing the wedding day went.

Laura and Cameron met while both living in Washington, DC. The night they first met, the two spent a whole evening just talking on the steps of Lincoln Memorial. Eventually the two love birds wanted a new change of scenery and headed down to the beautiful low country of Charleston, South Carolina. Although their new home was in the heart of Charleston, a piece of them still lived in DC, so when it came time to pop the question, Cameron brought Laura back to the very spot where their relationship began and proposed to Laura on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial!

The day started with champagne bottles, gift exchanges, laughter & a whole lot of fun! Pampered & Pretty and Make Up By Jami, were busy getting the girls all glammed up for the day! Laura, who is also the owner of Two Paper Planes, an up and coming hand lettering and design company, designed all of her amazing details for the day. Whether it was her bridesmaids getting ready shirts & socks, to her invitations and welcome map, to calligraphy of table numbers & seating chart, and even her moto jackets for all her maids, it all came from Laura! Every detail was so well thought out for this special day, and it definitely doesn’t go unnoticed.

I was busy down on the courtyard setting up the ceremony and reception, to get ready for the guests arrival. White Farm Tables from Event Haus and Bamboo Chairs from Ooh! Events flooded the patio while Road Side Blooms adorned the tables with clear bud vases filled with a mixture of palm leaves, dusty miller, smilax and Italian ruscus.

Laura requested to have a father daughter first look, and it is absolutely breath taking. Not to be out done by the father daughter first look, but Laura and Cameron also decided on a first look, and that was the beginning of Cameron’s waterworks. Natasha, looking through her lens while she captured this special moment, even cried. Soon after, outdoor portraits were taken on the streets of Downtown Charleston near Zero George and other surrounding streets.

The ceremony began, with DJ Redirection cuing “Mean to Me” by Brett Eldredge as Laura walked down the aisle in her seamless designed gown by Verita Bridal. The lyric “standing here, watching you” hit right when Laura took the turn to walk down the aisle, and when you glanced at Cameron, all you saw was a glisten in his eyes. As the two exchanged vows, there was not a dry eye in the crowd, including Camerons. The magnitude of love these two have for one another can be clearly seen throughout the day. Cocktail hour began as guests headed up to the second floor to enjoy hors d’Oeuvres by Cru Catering and specialty cocktails by King Street Bev Company, while my team flipped the entire ceremony layout to the reception layout.

The reception kicked off with the introduction of the wedding party walking through the crowd to the song “Party In the USA” by Miley Cyrus. As Laura and Cameron danced away forehead to forehead to their first dance, “Yours” by Russel Dickerson, Label by Chloe, began to capture the beautiful moment with her live painting. Dinner was served and the party began while Steele Toe Stilleto kept the dance floor packed! Laura’s sister, Kate Dye, another one of Charleston’s insanely talented photographers, had moved to Charleston right before Laura and Cameron moved. The two are inseparable, and if you had the opportunity to hear Kate’s toast to her sister, you were guaranteed to shed a tear. Even the ever famous quote from the Notebook, filmed right in our backyard, was used a few times in her speech; “if you’re a bird, I’m a bird”. To cap off the evening of fun, Laura and Cameron took the stage to ask her dad, John, to continue a family tradition. This tradition started at Kate’s wedding, continued at their brother John’s wedding and it was time for everyone to witness his Meatloaf performance. The crowd separated and began performing “Paradise by the dashboard light”. To see the joy that this sweet family has for one another, it is simply amazing!
